A few years back, there were three brothers who really wanted to have some fun, but in a safe way (yeah right)! On a cold, windy and rainy morning in Oregon, the power went out in the entire city they lived in and the day started to look like a dud. Somehow, while having breakfast, they talked their dad into taking them to a paintball field in a nearby city. Even more surprising, they were able to talk him into playing with them that day. Even though it was near freezing, wet and windy, the brothers, their dad, and friends spent the afternoon running through the woods, shooting at each others and having a GREAT time! Immediately they were hooked on paintball and soon they started buying their own equipment and accessories. A local farmer's wooded area along a creek became a weekly location to find the guys, learning their skills. Thick brush, open areas, donkey poo and an occasional deer made for challenging adventures. Still, much to their surprise, dad was right there, having just as much fun and spending time with his boys. Over time, they were functioning as a team and doing quite well at it. That summer, the middle brother decided to join the Army and began his training as a Cavalry Scout. The designation for a Cav Scout in the Army is 19D, spoken as 19 Delta. Thus, the remaining group in Oregon took on the name of Team 19 Delta in dedication to the son, brother and friend and to keep him as part of the team forever. Soon, Scout skills from the Army were being transferred back to Team 19 Delta and their training, focus and output took on a whole new level on the paintball field. That fall, the team heard about a local paintball field who was hosting a Halloween Night SWAT Challenge. They entered into the competition, practiced and geared up with new black uniforms and mounted tactical lights and came away from their first competition with a win. The prize was a team sponsorship from Hosking Supply Paintball Field. Next, armed with a new sponsorship, a new field, and new insights from others in the sport, Team 19 Delta has developed into a dominant scenario, woodsball and tactical paintball team. |
